Nursing associates bridge the gap between registered nurses and healthcare support workers to providing a rewarding career and enabling you to make a real difference in people’s lives. You will work with adults of all ages, who may have one or more long or short-term physical/mental health conditions.

As a Nursing Associate your duties may include:

  • Taking basic observations such as pulse and blood pressure
  • Undertaking clinical tasks such as ECGs
  • Working with a wider clinical team to keep them updated with the patient’s condition
  • Dealing with safeguarding issues relating to vulnerable adults or children

With an FdSc Nursing Associate degree, you will be able to register as a Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Requirements

  • GCSE
Level three qualifications or the equivalent of 48 UCAS points, or studies to level 3 such as NVQ3 health and care with relevant work experience. GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or Functional Skills level 2 or Equivalent.
  • DISCLOSURE BARRING SERVICE
Applicants are required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for Regulated Activity. As you will have close contact with children and/or vulnerable adults on this course, you will be required to have a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure certificate. You need to complete this process prior to starting the course. Failure to complete this process will impact you’re going on placement as part of the course. Each year of the program, you will also be required to undertake a self-declaration of your good health and good character.
  • We would normally expect you to have Grade 4/C in GCSE English and Maths.
