You might choose to go down the generalist path, where your skills and talents will be put to use across the range of HRM disciplines. Or instead, you might choose to focus on a specific area. You could, for example, focus on reward – ensuring the organizations retain the best staff – or on recruitment, making sure that companies attract and bring on board the best people for the job. This could be in-house or for a recruitment consultancy. You could also focus on training and development, making sure that staff has the right skills and qualities to make a telling contribution to any company.
