LLB (Hons) Law with Professional Legal Practice

LLB (Hons) Law with Professional Legal Practice

The Law with Professional Legal Practice pathway is an innovative response to the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. This pathway will deliver the same core modules addressing the Foundations of Legal Knowledge that are offered in all of our Law pathways. It will also provide the opportunity for students wishing to qualify as a solicitor to follow a dedicated pathway of practice-based modules within a Law degree with the quality and rigor recognized externally by law firms and chambers. In addition to the dedicated practice-based modules, you’ll have lots of opportunities to further develop your practical skills. There are opportunities to take part in mooting (practicing oral arguments), client interviewing, negotiation, or volunteering (subject to a selection process) as a Community Legal Companion or in either our Divorce or Commercial Law Legal Advice Clinics.

Employability

This program is a qualifying law degree that offers the current professional exemptions you need to train to practice as a solicitor or barrister. Additionally, the Professional Legal Practice pathway offers a unique and innovative stream of modules that will equip students with the practical legal skills usually only acquired through postgraduate study. This suite of practice-based modules teaches and assesses practical legal skills such as advocacy, writing, drafting, legal research, and mediation as well as areas of legal practice. Graduates may use these legal skills to acquire the qualifying work experience element of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, such as paralegal work or voluntary work at a law center.
