BSc (Hons) Data Science and Human Biology

In this course, you will study fundamental mathematical and statistical techniques alongside modern software development methods. You will have the opportunity to apply your learning using authentic datasets in our cutting-edge computing laboratories. You’ll have the opportunity to explore a range of topics that cover advanced technical elements which may include cloud computing, as well as academic research, industry-focused professional skills and practical problem-solving to ensure that you are fully equipped for an exciting and intellectually stimulating journey as a Data Scientist. The multidisciplinary approach to Human Biology is supported by input to the programme from staff with diverse expertise. You’ll engage in a range of biological topics addresssing issues that relate to our ever changing lifestyles and have a global perspective, that have improved our understanding of health and disease. You can go on to work in diverse industries such as finance, healthcare, transport, business intelligence, and e-commerce, as well as further academic study. Additional experience in research and self-directed learning gives you the abilities needed to respond to the latest developments in this fast-changing field in the years ahead. Our Data Science combined honors degree is also great preparation for employment in related fields including consultancy, software development, accountancy, engineering, and teaching. Human Biology graduates have pursued diverse careers including industry, genetics research, medical statistics, scientific writing, management, and sales. Several Human Biology graduates have gone into Medicine while many enter into MSc or Ph.D. degree programs.
