This new program is designed to offer the advancing clinician the flexibility to tailor their study pathway according to the demands of their particular role within musculoskeletal services and evidence their development aligned to the four pillars of advanced clinical practice, therefore, incorporating studies in clinical practice, leadership, and management, education and research. The NHS in the 21st century faces many challenges: rising expectations, demand is driven by demographics, the continuing development of our ‘information society, advances in treatments, the changing nature of the disease, and changing expectations of the health workplace. Practitioners will be able to acquire new capabilities and skills to respond to patients’ expectations in a variety of care settings. The program will also empower physiotherapists to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and to lead change that improves the quality of care to individuals.

Requirements
Candidates should normally have a first or second-class honors degree in physiotherapy. Candidates without degrees may be considered on an individual basis. Candidates may need to satisfy additional requirements for some option modules, such as providing:
- Evidence of the candidate’s experience in assessing and treating certain patient groups
- Written support from their line manager and a named clinical mentor
- Evidence of current registration with an appropriate professional governing body and third-party insurance, and evidence of all mandatory training within their own organization. Please see the individual modules for further information.
